While many assume misdemeanors are lesser crimes, which indeed they are, this type of charge can be frightening to those who are accused of them. In many of these cases, a good defense lawyer like our team at The Kyle Law Firm can serve as an advocate for your case.
Misdemeanor crimes are not considered to be as serious as felonies and thus carry with them lesser punishments such as fines or jail time. Examples of common misdemeanors include common traffic violations such as speeding, public intoxication or simple assault. These crimes are typically handled by lower courts such as traffic or municipal court, and our attorneys at The Kyle Law Firm are experienced in handling a wide range of misdemeanor charges in these types of courts.

Types of Misdemeanors
In state law there are typically three classes of misdemeanors, including:
- Class A is considered to be the most serious and examples would include crimes such as burglary of a vehicle or perjury. These misdemeanors can have fines of sometimes thousands of dollars and jail terms of up to a year.
- Class B is less serious, and examples include prostitution or criminal trespass. Typically these carry fines of up to $2,000 and jail for up to 180 days.
- Class C is the least serious offense and would include such crimes as gambling or public intoxication. Usually these crimes carry a fine of no more than $500 and often no jail time.
In any of these misdemeanor violations the defendant will be given a citation to appear in court or the opportunity to pay a fine. In the case of Class A misdemeanors, which are of the most serious type, the defendant must appear before the court for adjudication. It is in this instance that defendants need good legal help in the form of an aggressive New Braunfels misdemeanor defense lawyer from The Kyle Law Firm.
