DA's Office Sponsors DWI Awareness Events

This week, the Comal County District Attorney's Office is setting out to inform high school students about the dangers of drinking and driving.

The DA's Office is holding DWI Community Awareness Events at all four of the high schools in Comal County. The events are being attended by a number of organizations including the police departments of New Braunfels, Bulverde and Garden Ridge, the Comal County Sherriff's Office, TXDOT, Texas DPS, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

On Monday, the groups stopped by New Braunfels High School. Today they were at Canyon Lake High. Wednesday they'll move to Canyon High School and on Thursday they'll be at Smithson Valley High School. The DA's Office says it hopes these events will remind both high school kids and other community residents to be careful this holiday season and celebrate responsibility.

Besides endangering other drivers, those convicted of DWI can face serious legal consequences. For a first offense, jail time can range from 3 to 180 days. A second offense can carry anywhere from 30 days to 1 year. A third offense is punishable by 2 years and a $10,000 fine.

When you're charged with DWI, you need an experienced DWI defense attorney to defend your rights and demand a fair trial. Contact the Kyle Law Firm today to set up a free consultation.
