A Travis County sheriff's deputy was injured last Monday when his motorcycle was struck by a car northwest of Austin.
The crash occurred at Loop 360 and Waymaker Way while the deputy was following another driver who was speeding. During the pursuit, a Range Rover SUV pulled out in front of the motorcycle and the two vehicles collided.
Initially, the deputy was taken to the University Medical Center Brackenridge with reports of life-threatening injuries. Now, however, he is expected to make a full recovery.
The driver of the Range Rover sustained no injuries.
Here at the Kyle Law Firm, we're thankful this accident didn't turn into a tragedy. And we'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to drive safely this holiday season. For motorcyclists that means obeying traffic laws, wearing a helmet and keeping an extra careful eye out for distracted drivers.
For cars that means staying focused on the road, maintaining a safe speed and taking special precautions around motorcyclists. It's very easy to misjudge the speed of a motorcycle, so be sure to give them lots of room.
