Staying Safe in the Workplace

| Mar 5, 2013 | Uncategorized |

Taking the proper precautions at work can determine whether you walk away or are carried from your workplace at the end of the day. Regardless of the industry, following preventive measures by looking out for your own safety and those around offers the best protection.

Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), employers are obligated to protect workers from any health and safety risks associated with the occupation. Before beginning work, your employer should have informed you of any possible dangers. Employees may also refuse work they believe poses too great a risk than they wish to be exposed to.

Protective clothing and gear can make the difference between life and death much of the time. Whether it’s a hard hat on the site or a hazmat suit in a lab, be sure to follow standard workplace safety procedure by wearing or using the appropriate materials.

Potential hazards should be reported immediately to one’s supervisor or employer. Be vigilant, as even dangerous hazards can result in seemingly minor issues such a watery eyes or skin irritations.

If you believe your workplace has potential health or safety risks that need to be addressed, contact OSHA to file a report. However, if you have been injured on the job, you deserve justice and fair compensation.Contact the Kyle Law Firm today to speak to one of our workplace safety attorneys.
